Santa Fe is one of our favorite places; Maura and I have vacationed there more than once. It’s at the top of the list for potential retirement destinations, if we end up moving. I love the flora and fauna, the environment, the culture, the art scene, the architecture, the weather, the mountains, the desert, the food. Here are some of our favorite places to visit while we’re in town.

The Kitchen - an amazing cafe in a garden nursery made with all fresh local ingredients. (From the gardens when in season.) It’s a fixed menu for that day and once she sells out that’s it. You can call her number the day you want to go and see what she is serving, but I prefer to be surprised as I sit down and let the food come. AMAZING !

Sanctuary De Chimayo - Great place to go for a walk, take pics and sketch. Very peaceful. Beautiful landscape and a very pretty drive to it, too. Like I mentioned, we didn’t even go inside when we went (although I’m sure the inside of the chapel is beautiful) and it was still worth the drive.

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks - about 45 min away. Beautiful hiking!

Shopping

Madrid, New Mexico - a funky little town about half an hour outside of Santa Fe with lots of fun shops and galleries. We had some great conversations with the folks here.
