About Me
II live in Kansas City, Missouri with my wife, Maura Cluthe, and our two dogs, Rosie and Gus I’m a self-taught tech nerd, starting with an Apple II in high school, and working with a Mac Plus in college to edit the newspaper and yearbook. My first personal computer was a Mac IIfx with a whopping 80MB of storage! I remember wondering what I’d ever do with all that space. Fast forward a couple of decades and I am now a diverse technology leader, able to manage a variety of systems (and always wanting to learn more!), staff, vendors, I enjoy helping people at all levels of expertise with their technology needs.
My wife and I are collectors: art, toy VW Beetles, toy robots, vinyl (both toys and records), books, plants, Lego sets, hats, etc. The rule in our house is if we own three or more of a thing, it’s a collection. I’m a voracious and eclectic reader. I also like to doodle and dabble a bit with photography. I love to hang out with friends and family.
Professionally I am an accomplished and strategic technology leader with over 20 years of progressive IT leadership experience, primarily in higher education. I have driven digital transformation projects, rebuilt core network infrastructure , and secured enterprise systems. I have experience with cloud migration projects and establishing robust IT governance. I am dedicated to providing end users with secure, reliable access to technology to enable efficient and effective work.
In my IT roles, I have:
- Set and executed multi-year IT roadmaps aligned to organization strategy and financial objectives
- Led initiatives to modernize infrastructure, cybersecurity, ERP, and data, through
- Strengthened governance, risk management, and disaster recovery while improving service levels
- Built and mentored a high-performing team and trusted vendor partnerships
- Translated complex technical decisions into clear organization value for leadership
- Created and lead several working committees including a Staff Advisory Council, a Technology Steering Committee
